India Untouched: The Forgotten Face of Rural Poverty .

Abraham George named his school in India the Haven of Peace, and that is exactly what he provides for the impoverished rural society of India.

After 25 years in the United States as a graduate student and entrepreneur, George returned to India, where he was born and raised, to set up a foundation to help alleviate rural poverty. This book is a very personal, and very moving, account of the experiences and opinions of an Indian businessman who seeks to make his foundation relevant to the masses of India's poor as they fall further and further behind the urban rich. His approach combines compassion with hard-headed analysis, and he has no patience with sentimental Indian nationalists who seek to justify cruel practices as worthy of Indian tradition or those who merely wring their hands over India's problems. Thankfully, he can point to a small but real record of success.
